Empowering Women

Empowering women, specifically widows, families affected by alcoholism to earn a livelihood.

Women in the surrounding villages of Kalligudi, from rural background and are from families wherein most cannot take up jobs away from home due to family constraints. Boosting their confidence and improving their self-reliance will enable them to sustain both their livelihood and help in upkeep of the children.

For which we decided to offer free tailoring classes coupled with a Digital literacy program for the women from the adjoining villages. Digital literacy program was designed to enable them do away with the fear of computers, use basic facilities like booking railway/bus tickets, printing birth/death certificate and to make them aware of Government programs, schemes, and enrol.

500 plus women from the adjoining villages have been trained by us

In addition we have registered ourselves with PMKVY as TP in May 2018, and have set up a modern training center at Kalligudi for self-employed tailoring. We have trained around 200 women of the adjoining villages

SELF EMPLOYMENT

Our intent was just not only to train these women but to make them self-reliant and become a revenue earner for their respective families. Realizing the difficulties faced by them to purchase a sewing machine, we supported by

  • Providing free machines to widows.
  • Facilitated 12 of them to get free machines under the Government BPL scheme.
  •  Facilitated many of them in getting bank
    loans for procuring sewing machines.

And further

  • To ensure they generate sufficient money month on month, we have supported them to
procure orders for stitching cloth bags or ready-made materials (ex chudidhars, nighties etc. ).
